1. Introduction
Jot & Laksh Pty Ltd (ABN 93 703 109 764) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in that Act. It applies to all personal information we collect through our website at https://jotlaksh.online, by email, and in the course of providing professional business and consulting services.
2. The Australian Privacy Principles
The APPs govern how Australian organisations collect, store, use, disclose and dispose of personal information. Our practices are designed to comply with each APP, including APP 1 (open and transparent management of personal information), APP 5 (notification of collection), APP 6 (use and disclosure), APP 7 (direct marketing), APP 8 (cross-border disclosure), APP 11 (security of personal information) and APP 13 (access to and correction of personal information). This Policy is our APP 1 privacy policy.
3. Kinds of personal information we collect
Depending on your dealings with us, we may collect:
- Your name, email address and business details submitted through our contact or quote forms;
- Information you provide when you email us, such as the content of your message and your reply address;
- Business and financial information you choose to share with us so we can provide consulting or advisory services;
- Technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through standard website logs.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act) unless it is directly relevant to the services we provide and you have consented to that collection.
4. How we collect personal information
We collect personal information directly from you, for example when you complete a form on our website, send us an email at ceo@jotlaksh.online, or engage us for services. We may also collect information passively through cookies and server logs when you browse our website. Where reasonable and practicable, we collect information directly from you rather than from third parties.
5. Purposes of collection, use and disclosure
We collect and hold personal information so we can:
- Respond to your enquiries and prepare quotations;
- Provide the professional business and consulting services you have engaged us for;
- Manage our business relationship with you, including invoicing and record-keeping;
- Meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We will not use or disclose your personal information for any secondary purpose unless it is related to the primary purpose and you would reasonably expect that use or disclosure, or you have consented, or the use or disclosure is required or authorised by law.
6. Direct marketing
In line with APP 7, we will only send you direct marketing communications (such as newsletters or service updates) if you have consented or would reasonably expect them and an opt-out mechanism is provided. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe option, and you may also opt out at any time by emailing ceo@jotlaksh.online. We will action opt-out requests promptly and without charge.
7. Disclosure to third parties and overseas recipients
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may disclose personal information to service providers who assist us in operating our business, such as website hosting, email and cloud storage providers. Some of these providers may store data outside Australia. Where an overseas disclosure occurs, we take reasonable steps, in line with APP 8, to ensure the recipient does not breach the Australian Privacy Principles. We remain accountable for such disclosures unless we reasonably believe the recipient is subject to substantially similar protections.
8. Security of personal information
Under APP 11, we take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes using password-protected systems, restricting access to personnel who need the information, and using reputable third-party platforms with appropriate security safeguards. When personal information is no longer needed for a permitted purpose and we are not required to retain it by law, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.
9. Access to and correction of your personal information
Under APP 12 and APP 13, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request its correction if you believe it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. To make a request, email ceo@jotlaksh.online. We will respond within a reasonable time (usually within 30 days). We will not charge you for making a request, and we will not refuse a request for access or correction unless permitted under the Privacy Act. If we refuse, we will give you written reasons and information about how to complain.
10. Anonymity and pseudonymity
Where lawful and practicable, you may deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym, for example when making a general enquiry about our services. However, in most cases we need identifying information to prepare a quotation or provide consulting services.
11. Cookies and website analytics
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience and gather basic analytics. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, though some website features may not function correctly as a result.
12. Third-party links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit.
13. Complaints and our resolution process
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or mishandled your personal information, please lodge a written complaint to ceo@jotlaksh.online. Please include details of the alleged breach so we can investigate. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or by writing to GPO Box 5288, Sydney NSW 2001.
14. Changes to this policy
